About the Director

Dawn Kingman (B.F.A. Bowling Green State University, 2001; M.M. Miami University 2010) serves as Director of Choral Activities at Sylvania Northview High School where she also teaches A.P. Music Theory and Popular Music. Mrs. Kingman taught secondary vocal music at Talawanda High School in Oxford, Ohio for six years before moving to Sylvania in 2007.

In Oxford, Mrs. Kingman served at Director of Music at the Oxford United Methodist Church, director of the Oxford Community Band, had a private voice studio, and served as vocal director for several Oxford Area Community Theatre (OxAct) productions.

As a performer, Mrs. Kingman has sung with several festival choirs, the Oxford Choral Ensemble, and Bowling Green State University’s Collegiate Chorale, A Cappella Choir, Women’s Chorus, and University Choral Society. She has sung under the direction of Weston Noble, Mark Munson, Robert Shaw, William Bausano, Peter Eldridge, William Dehning, and Morten Lauridsen.

In 2007 Mrs. Kingman was a founding member of Bowling Green’s Opus 181, a 12-person choral ensemble specializing in global chamber music.

Mrs. Kingman is a member of the Music Educators’ National Conference (MENC), the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) and the American Choral Directors’ Association (ACDA). She resides in Sylvania with her husband and cats.
