From the Podium

Dear Northview Choir Students and Parents,

Welcome to the “busy season” for the Northview Choirs! Thanks so much to all of our parents and community members for cheering on our students last week for our first-ever precontest concert. Early last week Dr. Mark Munson, Director of Choral Activities at BGSU, came to work with our groups and his tips and encouragement were much appreciated by the students and myself.

Our Symphonic Choir, A Cappella Women’s Choir and A Cappella Choir will be performing at the OMEA District I Large Group Adjudicated Event on March 17^th at Archbold High School. We are putting the final touches on our contest repertoire and are looking forward to performing and listening to other groups perform as well. Parents, we would like to have at least six bus chaperones on this trip so please contact Lisa Przyojski or Jill McCready if you are interested. The time commitment would roughly be 7:30am-2:30pm on that day. All performances are free and open to the public. No photography or recording is permitted in performances; we risk disqualification if these rules are broken.

The students are sounding fantastic and working very diligently toward their goals! Here is a list of some important upcoming events for Symphonic Choir, A Cappella Choir, and Harmony Roadshow. Dates accompanied by an asterisk * are mandatory graded events:

I have two notes for seniors and parents of seniors. Graduation is sooner than it seems. Please send me recommendation letter requests as soon as possible so that I can honor them in time for deadlines to be met. Also we are preparing for the final concert of the year at which a senior slide show is displayed for the audience. We need a baby picture and a senior picture of all choir seniors. Please send your pictures to me or to Annie Babcock. We would prefer the pictures to be sent electronically, but hard copies work as well.
