Dear Northview Choir Parents and Students,
The year is winding down and as students are preparing for final concerts and exams, I want to remind everyone to keep the lines of communication open among students, parents, and myself. Several important events are scheduled in April, May, and June; in order for these to run smoothly, all students involved need to know what is expected of them.
I send flyers home with the students, have information posted on the website, and send emails to parents and students regarding mandatory performances and other happenings. However, I have found throughout the year that occasionally additional clarification was needed, particularly when information has been parlayed via word-of-mouth. Please know that I welcome parent phone calls and emails. Here are a few ways to find information and to get in touch with me.
My email: sy_aca_dga@nwoca.org You may email me any time of the day or night and I will respond within 24 hours.
My school phone number: 419-824-8570 ext. 5127 I cannot answer outside calls from 7:30am-3pm on weekdays, put you are welcome to leave a message and a convenient phone number and I will call you back within 24 hours at the very latest. My goal this year is to return every parent phone call within the same business day. Please, if you have any concerns, call me for clarification right away.
The Northview Choir Website: www.nvchoir.org Necessary information (our calendar of events, handbook, grading requirements, announcements, and student learning tracks) is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Our upcoming graded events are the Van Buren Choral Exchange on April 15th at 7pm (all choirs need to report to NV at 5:05pm), Tiffin University Jazz Fest during the school day on April 16th (Harmony Road Show), state contest (A Cappella Choir, Northview Women’s Chorus) held at Van Buren High School on May 1st, our spring concert on May 13th at 7:00pm at Westgate Chapel (all choirs—student report time is 5:30pm), and the Northview spring jazz concert (Harmony Road Show) on May 27th at 7pm. Attendance at these events is mandatory for the students involved. Additionally, students are being graded daily in class for participating in rehearsals; this essentially means that they must have their music and a pencil with them during class, they must follow directions, and they must sing to the best of their abilities every single day. For further details about performance and in-class expectations, please review the choir handbook and guidelines found in the Northview Choir Handbook at www.nvchoir.org.
On May 17th, the Northview Choir Boosters and I will be hosting our annual spring awards banquet. Please plan on attending with the entire family for a special night of recognition and celebration.
As the year draws to a close, I would like to thank all of the parents and students for their hard work and dedication this year. I would especially like to extend my sincere appreciation and congratulations to seniors and parents of seniors. I have no doubt that the class of 2010 will definitely be ready to “bring on tomorrow”...
Sincerely,
Mrs. Dawn Kingman
